Love the Revere spot. Those nineties bands were fun to see. My impression was that the nineties were the years when monoculture actually started to splinter. The only band among those I listened to was the Shins, which are worth a listen still, mostly Chutes Too Narrow.

It’s all relative it seems. I mourn the loss of monoculture when in your view it was already gone! Who knows how the kids will feel.

Don't misunderstand me, my beloved nephew. 'Started to splinter' means your impression of monoculture was valid. To the impenetrable Boomer mind, the monoculture of cable TV was more varied than the monoculture of Broadcast TV, for example, yet now we have to subscribe to five or six streaming services just to watch our shows and the local ball games. The kids will feel even more free, and probably more scared, as long as scaring people keeps raking in the numbers it always seems to.
